Week One
Week 1 offers an immersive exploration of real-world environmental challenges and solutions through research-based and hands-on learning. Students will analyze water quality parameters, visit treatment plants, and experiment with practical water treatment methods. They will gain firsthand experience in assessing contaminants, understanding purification techniques, and exploring effective water management practices. Through interactive activities ranging from laboratory experiments to field applications, students will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing them to contribute to the future of environmental responsibility.
Week Two
Week 2 is sponsored by the Tier 1 University Transportation Center (UTC) for Durable and Resilient Transportation Infrastructure (DuRe-Transp) and explores the fascinating world of next-generation materials used in buildings and transportation. Learn what is included in the ready-mix truck. Get hands-on experience transforming natural waste like dried and burnt plants into unique construction materials. Discover how agricultural byproducts can be combined with cement to create stronger, cleaner alternatives. Dive into interactive experiments, from microscopic analysis to real-world applications, and be part of the future of novel sustainable materials for infrastructure.
